New Release

May 4, 2015 by Mona

LLTI’m delighted to announce that Book Four in The Women of Independence series is now available at all major e-book retailers.

It’s been a pleasure to share this series with you, and I’d like to thank everyone who took the time to leave glowing reviews.

Here’s the book description:

What would you do if your boyfriend suggested you date other people? Tyler’s suggestion comes out of the blue and suddenly Katie’s well-ordered life is crumbling around her. And to make matters worse, the grandmother she never really knew decides to make contact.

Join Katie as she weighs college life against a murky, undecided future. Will Tyler still be there when she comes home, or is he dating as well?< Love’s Like That is Book Four in The Women of Independence series. This book is a complete story, but is shorter than the other three, and is priced accordingly. And here are the buy links. Enjoy! Amazon US:  http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00X1SYAF4

Sometimes A Girl Just Has To Brag

July 4, 2014 by Mona

LFAI’m a typical Canadian in that I’m uncomfortable tooting my own horn, but this is different. I recently learned that my book Loving From Afar has been chosen as a Semi-Finalist for the 2014 Best Kindle Book Awards, sponsored by the Kindle Book Review.

It’s an honor to have my work recognized.

If you haven’t read it yet, Loving From Afar is free everywhere, including all Amazon outlets. Download links here.

I’d Never Do That To You

February 17, 2014 by Mona

Picture me with a hand over my heart. Got it? Okay, now hear me say these words: “I will never, ever write a book with a cliffhanger.”
What brought that on? Well, I read a lot. I like action, mystery, romance. I like big names, and not-so-big names. I guess you could say I’m an equal opportunity reader.
A couple of days ago I finished a romance by a new author. (New to me, at least). The book ended with a deliberate cliff-hanger. The author even went so far as to have a section at the back saying, in effect, nah nah na nah nah, now you’ll have to buy the next book.
Too bad I was alone at the time, because I’d be willing to bet there were little wisps of steam coming out of my ears.
The result? I’ll never, ever, buy a book by that author again. I’ve gone back and checked the product description in Amazon, and there was no warning that this book was not a stand-alone.
Cliff hangers aren’t necessary. Many authors, including myself, write delightful series, and each story has a satisfying ending. Sure, we’ll offer you a look into the next book in the series, and if you liked the first one, we hope that you’ll buy the next ones, but if you stop at one book, at least you aren’t left hanging. My series The Women of Independence is a good example of that.
I was so enraged that I swore off romance for a while. I bought a book by an author I hadn’t read before and wow! Billy Kring knocked my socks off with Outlaw Road. Non stop action centering around a border patrol agent in Texas. And guess what, ladies? The protagonist is a kick-ass female. I now know of two authors who write kick-ass females. The other is Russell Blake with his Jet series.
So something good came out of my disappointment. Two things, actually. First, it strengthened my resolve to never, ever write a story that leaves you hanging. The other is that I found a new author.
Hey… it was a good day after all.

That certain feeling…

May 18, 2013 by Mona

I like every book I write. I wouldn’t be much of an author if I didn’t.
But the one I’m writing now feels special. I wasn’t going to talk about it, but it’s been poking and prodding at me to let it out… to share it with you, the readers.
I’ve always wanted to write a series, and I’m finally indulging myself. Perhaps that’s why it feels so special; it’s been waiting in the wings for years.
The series is called The Women of Independence, and the stories, which are individually titled, are romances at heart.
But perhaps not your average romance. This series more closely resembles the life we all live every day. Life with its ups and downs; scenarios that are gritty, perhaps hard to take at times, but always true to life. And as I said, in the end they are romances. Because that’s what life is, isn’t it? One long journey in search of love?
I’ll keep you posted as I get closer to release date, which I hope will be mid-June. The first one in the series is called Loving From Afar. Can’t wait to share it with you.
